  • Culture – demonstrate the company’s mission and values
  • Connection – put newcomers at ease with their surroundings and coworkers
  • Communication – discuss goals and expectations, especially early on

Onboarding programs that are most effective address each of these areas with great specificity. Because the more specific you are, the better prepared your new hire will be. Better preparation leads to more confidence and productivity. And that, in turn, leads to better retention.
