  • New general counsel will be appointed for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) pending board seat.
  • Review the Prohibitive Captive Audience meetings for union employers. 2025 – CA and IL. 2024 – VT, HI, and WA. 2023 – Maine, NY, and MN.
  • Private employers cannot ask employees to pay back (stay or pay back).
  • Rhode Island Healthy and Family Workplace Act must provide 1 hour of leave for every 35 hours worked.
  • NY now has paid prenatal leave effective January 2025.
  • Workers Classifications will most likely change again and employers will need to pass 5 Core factors test.
  • Private employers will most likely not be prevented from providing DEI trainings due to the 1st amendment however, this should be monitored.
  • Tax cuts and jobs acts – W4 form was changed previously and personal exemptions were removed. We could go back to what we used to see for child taxes and other aspects of the form.
  • More deregulations are expected with the new administration and will be slow and steady, while some will be effective immediately.
  • If in a unionized Labor environment – consider retaining a labor attorney to stay up to date on changing labor laws.
